The fireworks people want for New Year tend to be a little different than the ones they want for Bonfire Night. For Bonfire Night people want a display of assorted fireworks lasting around 20 to 30 minutes but for New Year the most popular fireworks are the ones that produce short but spectacular displays.
We often get asked which are the best fireworks for a New Year party. This depends on the space you have to let the fireworks off in and how much your budget is. Is the biggest and dearest firework we have the best one? well, we’d have to answer that; Yes & No.
A couple of years ago, we sold giant compound fireworks (a compound firework consisting of several fireworks pre-fused together so you only have to light one fuse for a display) for New Year’s Eve at over £400. After testing, we discovered a £300 firework outperformed more expensive ones. Consequently, we now stock fireworks up to £300, with Showtime by Jonathan’s Fireworks as our top recommendation.
We know that not everyone wants to spend £300 on fireworks for New Year’s Eve and you certainly don’t have to.
Here are the best fireworks we recommend for various budgets and the minimum viewing distance required to let the fireworks off.
Fireworks for New Year with a minimum viewing distance of 8 metres
Budget up to £40
PEGASUS £34.99. This firework requires a minimum viewing distance of 8m so is suitable for the smaller garden but produces a spectacular aerial display lasting approximately 40 seconds comprising of vertical and fan-shaped effects.
SPACE RACE £39.99. A great firework for New Year which lasts around a minute. Again a minimum viewing distance of 8m is required, Space Race produces vertical and fan-shaped effects and has a great finale.
Budget up to £200
BEAT THY NEIGHBOUR £124.99. This 2 minute vertical firing aerial firework has a minimum viewing distance of 8m, so can be used for a back garden display as well as for large displays.
HIGH IMPACT £199.99. If you want the longest-lasting firework with only one fuse to light then High Impact is for you. High Impact fires 244 shots and lasts approximately 4 minutes, it also has a minimum viewing distance of 8m making it suitable for those with a smaller display area.
Fireworks for New Year with a minimum viewing distance of 25 metres
Budget up to £60
AD ASTRA £59.99. Ad Astra has a wide variety of effects and firing patterns. This is a 108-shot firework with a duration around a minute.
POSEIDON £59.99. We love the effect of the coloured star comets in the fan halfway through the display. Poseidon fires 90 shots in just under a minute so provides a sky-filling display.
IMMORTAL £59.99. Immortal contains, crackles, whistles, bangs, coloured stars, spinners, in fact almost every effect under the Sun. There are 125 shots in total fired in just over a minute.
Budget up to £100
GLADIATOR £79.99. With a duration of around a minute and a half, Gladiator is one of the longest-lasting fireworks at this budget. Gladiator fires 146 shots both vertically and in a fan shape.
HERCULES £99.99. Hercules has been one of our best-selling fireworks for many years and is many of our customer’s favourite firework. Hercules fires 107 shots in a minute and has a spectacular sky-filling crackling finale.
Budget up to £150
FIRESTORM £119.99. An often overlooked firework but we like Firestorm as you think it has fired its finale shot and then produces more effects for an encore.
EXTREME FIREPOWER £124.99. Extreme Firepower contains 3 individual fireworks rather than a single firework but this pack is such good value for money we’ve had to include in this list of recommendations.
Budget up to £200
MAXIMUM SHOWTIME £199.99. Maximum Showtime is a colourful (and a bit but not too noisy) display that lasts around two and a half minutes with a great finale burst.
COMPOUND X £199.99. A top quality firework from one of the top firework manufacturers in the world, Vulcan. Compound X fires 281 shots in varied patterns over one and a half minutes.
Budget up to £300
SHOWTIME £299.99. Showtime is made up of 5 different fireworks all pre-fused together so you only have to light one fuse for this display lasting two and a half minutes.
THE GODFATHER £249.99. If you like noise then The Godfather is for you. Firing 188 shots in two and a half minutes The Godfather is one of our most popular fireworks.
