How to host an unforgettable Bonfire Night fireworks party
Our main passion at Jordans Fireworks will always be fireworks, but we also appreciate all the other things that make a party great including food and music. With this in mind, we’ve prepared our top tips below for hosting an unforgettable Bonfire Night fireworks party.
Tip #1 Buy fireworks early
There is always the temptation to leave things to the last minute, but in this case you don’t want to do this and then miss out on your favourite fireworks. We recommend buying fireworks early just in case there is low stock or delivery issues closer to the date. This also extends to any equipment and tools that you may require. Remember that fireworks come in all shapes and sizes. Loud fireworks are ideal for larger events, whereas fireworks with quieter effects could be more suited to smaller garden party.
Tip #2 Prepare for all weather conditions
Even if you’re a glass half full kind of person, we recommend that you don’t underestimate the weather conditions. If you’re based in the UK, then you’ll know that the weather is likely to be cold and wet this November. Make sure if you’re using fireworks in the rain that you protect the ground accordingly.
Tip #3 Plan your day
Once you’ve bought your fireworks and equipment, you can start to plan the logistics of your day. Preparation is essential to ensure that your guests are safe. If you’re planning to host a small fireworks party, then you’ll need to find a place in your garden with adequate space. Always read the back of firework labels to learn about the recommended amount of space for setting off fireworks. Some people like to organise their fireworks by using notebooks, stickers and other organisational tools. Notebooks can be useful for managing timings whereas stickers can be used to order fireworks. Read our frequently asked questions for more advice on preparing your fireworks.
Tip #4 Remember the other party essentials
Don’t forget the other party essentials for making the most of the occasion and impressing your guests. Here are some ideas for you below:
- Home decorations – Whether it’s going all out by decorating your whole house or just making your home more comfortable for your guests, a little preparation is likely to be well received.
- Music – It’s not a party without music!
- Food and drink (remember, never drink alcohol if you are setting off fireworks) – There are plenty of Bonfire Night themed food options for serving to kids and adults e.g. Toffee apples and Bonfire Night cookies, fireworks night cocktails (nominate people who are not drinking alcohol to take charge of the fireworks).
- Party games – Fireworks night is for many a family occasion so remember to prepare activities for highly active children including crafts, puzzles, colouring and pass the parcel.
Tip #5 Be respectful of neighbours and pets
Bonfire Night is a hugely significant day in the calendar for firework enthusiasts, but you should also be sensitive towards people who may not want to celebrate or pets that may be frightened by fireworks. If you are living in close proximity to neighbours and it’s safe to set fireworks then it’s polite to let them know about your party in advance.
Remember to also follow the laws in your area. For example, in the UK you must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight.
