Blanes, known as ‘the gateway to the Costa Brava’ is located in Spain so provides a warmer climate in which to enjoy their firework competition.
the 2015 edition of the annual international fireworks competition, officially named- El Focs de Blanes- is expected to take place from Thursday 23rd July through until Sunday 26th July, although the dates haven’t been officially confirmed yet by the organization of the 45th international Costa Brava fireworks contest ‘Trofeu villa de Blanes’.
the show usually begins at 22:30 (10:30pm) local time and the prime spectator spots are soon filling up about an hour before the show even begins as it as a very popular competition.
In 2013 the opening night drew 80,000 visitors, double the towns population! And in 2014 100,000 people watched the opening night and on the Saturday night, (traditionally the busiest night) saw a record crowd of 250,000.
