For those of you who like to leave things to the last minute, New Year’s Eve plans can be somewhat tricky. At this point of the month, with just a few days to go until the 31st, you may find things are already booked up and tickets have sold out.
This is especially true if you were planning on heading down to London. For 2014, the Mayor of London has changed the way in which the New Year fireworks are organised. Unlike previous years, where you could have just headed down to London on a whim, queued up and then watched the fireworks, this year the event has become ticketed.
With all of the 100,000 £10 tickets quickly selling out, if you haven’t already got a ticket then you will be looking at big money to get one (recent reports suggest tickets are changing hands for up to £212).
If you’re not looking to spend a lot to get a ticket, this doesn’t mean there isn’t anything left to do though. To help you out, below we have put together a list of last minute NYE ideas for celebrating the arrival of 2015.
Watch the fireworks from London’s high points
If you can’t bear to miss London’s fireworks, then you don’t have to. Simply head to the hills! While you may not be at the heart of the action, spots such as Parliament Hill and Primrose Hill will still enable you to see the display and without a ticket. Just be sure to get there in good time, as these parts of the capital are expected to fill up quick.
With an alternative city firework display
If you crave a big city fireworks display but don’t wish to head towards London, perhaps consider a different city? Set alongside the big wheel, there will be a fireworks display to bring in the New Year at Birmingham’s Centenary Square. Whilst similar events will be taking place in cities such as Liverpool, Nottingham, Cardiff, and of course Edinburgh, where New Year or “Hogmanay” as it is referred to in Scotland, is celebrated with three days of parties.
With New Year’s Eve classics
If you are based local to Leamington Spa like us, perhaps head to Leamington’s biggest NYE party at The Assembly? Featuring big club anthems from the 90s to the present day, the party starts from 10:30pm. Still available to purchase online, tickets are priced at £10.
With a 1970’s disco
If you are in Leamington but club anthems from the 90’s to the present day aren’t your thing, perhaps 70’s disco is? If that’s the case, The Clarendon pub has just the thing for you, a 1970’s NYC NYE disco. Complete with a themed cocktail menu, decadent decorations and giant dancefloor to boogie the night away on, the event will feature a soundtrack of disco, funk and soul. Tickets are £5 from the pub or from their website.
With a New Year’s firework celebration of your own
Of course, there’s still time to hold a fireworks display of your own. We are here right up to the 31st December. So if you place an order for fireworks on our website, all you have to do is head over to our Leamington Spa store where you will be able to collect them in time for your New Year celebrations.
If choosing to hold a firework display of your own, we recommend using one of our firework display packs. Carefully selected with fireworks that complement one another, a display pack will take the hard work of choosing fireworks away from you. Instead what you will receive is a full blown firework display with fireworks that you will know will work with one another. With our larger display packs, we also include a set-up plan and a firing order, which makes it even easier for you should you be leaving it last minute!
