Choosing a display pack for your firework display.
The choice of fireworks available today can be somewhat daunting for the organiser of a fireworks display.
First of all you need to deal with safety issues. How much space do you have to let the fireworks off? & do you have space for rocket sticks to fall in to?
The fireworks that are available for the public to purchase will basically come under two categories;
Garden Fireworks; these will have been tested for viewing at a minimum distance of 5 or 8 metres. There are some extremely good ‘garden fireworks’ available these days so do not think they will all be like the small fireworks you get in a small garden selection box. Some of the better garden fireworks are suitable for entertaining even the most discerning spectator.
The second category that the firework purchaser will come across is the ‘Display Firework’. This category of firework will have been tested to be viewed at a minimum distance of 25m.
So you can see straight away which of these two categories of fireworks will be suitable for the area you intend to let them off in.
When you have decided on the category of firework you will be using you can then decide on the style of display you want. The most popular style of display these days is an all aerial display. Aerial fireworks are particularly suitable if you have a large crowd watching, as people standing at the back will have just as good a view as those standing at the front. Catherine Wheel type fireworks and fountains add a different dimension to a display but you want to ensure that everyone can see the, so may be more suitable for a smaller gathering.
Rockets are always popular at displays but remember that what goes up also comes down. Large rockets have large sticks and do need to land somewhere. A large open area for rockets sticks to land in is essential but do not worry if you do not have such a space as the modern aerial barrage type firework will provide a good aerial display and you won’t have any rockets sticks to deal with.
You should also think how ‘loud’ you want your firework display to be. Most reasonable sized displays should have a balance between noisier and quieter fireworks thereby giving something to please everyone.
Finally, and probably the most difficult part of choosing the fireworks is ensuring that you have a wide variety of effects. The name on the wrapper of a firework can have little or nothing to do with the effect that the firework produces and it can be very easy to end up with a whole load of similarly performing fireworks all be it in different labels and with different names.
A firework specialist such as ourselves at Jordans Fireworks
will have spent many hours during the year testing and watching many different fireworks. We put together assorted packs from around £100 up to thousands of pounds and carefully select the fireworks that go in to those, taking in to consideration, the noise, colours and the variety of effects they produce. We also make up bespoke displays where we don’t think one of our pre-made displays is suitable. This may be due to the display venue having an issue with overhanging trees or could be due to the fact that all the people watching the fireworks may be elderly and hence do not want and loud fireworks.
Whatever your requirements we at Jordans Fireworks will ensure that you get the best fireworks for your display.
