So the Bonfire Night season is over and things have settled down and now the first few new year orders starting to come through. So how did we cope with the manic rush that is Bonfire Night? Well first of all we are one of the few companies in the UK that can offer a nationwide delivery service. One of the major couriers of fireworks in the UK reduced the number of firework companies that they dealt with from over 60 down to 6. That meant that the few companies who could offer a nationwide delivery service were going to be under great pressure to cope with what would no doubt be a huge increase in demand for their services.
It was certainly a very hard and busy season and a 100 hour working week was quite the norm from the start of September up to the weekend after the 5th November. What we did notice though was that other companies were obviously feeling the strain of the hectic season and were letting customers down. We all can make mistakes and particularly when things are so busy it is easy for human error to creep in. It is though how companies deal with that that they should be judged. For instance we had three cartons going down to London for delivery the next day, unfortunately one carton got put on the wrong van and headed north instead; it would have been easy to say that we would not be able to resolve the situation but that is not how we work, sure enough we got a replacement carton down to the customer in time for their display. In another instance where a carton (again heading for London) had gone astray one of the bosses here at Jordans Fireworks took a replacement carton late at night to ensure it got on to the lorry heading down to London with our deliveries.
Some of the people we have helped out had not been so fortunate with their original supplier. We heard tales of orders being placed with other companies and them not delivering and being told that their fireworks would arrive after their display date – not much good! We helped all those people out and they all got fireworks in time for their firework displays.
All companies can be good before supplying an order, it is when things go wrong that they need to be judged and we pride ourselves in not letting customers down.
