Technicians from Pyromagic install fireworks on a barge for the Lunar New Year display.
Well 2014 is the year of the horse and to celebrate it there have been some fantastic firework displays around the world.
If you’d like to read about some of the history and traditions about Chinese New Year we have a link here to an article we have written.
In Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour 6,000kg of fireworks lit up the sky. The fireworks had arrived several days earlier by container ship before being transferred on to four barges.
Overseeing the display Wilson Mao Wai-shing of Pyromagic said “It has to come by boat, the government won’t let them come by land for safety reasons”. The barges were then checked by a govenment official.
An estimated 300,000 people expected lined the harbour front on Saturday, (the second day of the Year of the Horse) to watch the display.
Videos of the display can be viewed here – https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chinese%20new%20year%20fireworks%202014%20hong%20kong&sm=3
