Here are just a few examples of fireworks being used in family films, there are many many more examples as fireworks are very popular in movies.
Beauty and The Beast
Towards the end of the film, when the beast appears to die after the fight with Gaston, there’s a magical transformation into Prince Adam, using firework like effects shooting down onto him. good use of sparkles and lights is used as he changes from the beast into the prince.
As Belle recognizing him, there is a kiss between them and then a firework bursts into the sky cascading the castle in sparkles, thus ending the curse and returning the castle and all inside back to their original selves.
Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix
During an exam scene, it is all silent until a noise at the door gets the attention of Dolores Umbridge (Harry’s defence against the darks art teacher). Umbridge opens the doors of the great hall where a single firework trail is seen, little do we know at that point is that it is setting the scene for the Weasley Twins, who come rushing past moments later on brooms, shooting fireworks into the air, lighting up the ceiling of the great hall, the fireworks crackle and bang like real fireworks! but this is Hogwarts so the fireworks are enchanted, chasing people and causing mischief, this when the special effects take over and it is spectacular!
The Little Mermaid
When Ariel first sets eyes on her true love, Eric, there are fireworks lighting up the sky and sea, anyone who has ever fallen will know how it feels and will understand the symbolic meanings behind this scene and use of pyrotechnics.
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
At the end of the film, the Ewok celebration is in full flow with some lovely fireworks and pyrotechnic effects, showing that Ewoks know how to celebrate in style! The re-realise has a longer celebration scene than the 1983 original.
A Bug’s Life
During the harvest scenes, when the ants have finished collected their food supplies, they use a great pyrotechnic effect to mimic fireworks, the films producers should be very proud of this idea! the ‘fireworks’ burst and explode like genuine fireworks but they are made up of grains, seeds, nuts etc. that have been collected for the harvest. It is a very good use of fireworks in a different way to get a great effect.
Tangled
there is an incredible scene in this film, where hundreds, maybe thousands, of paper chinese lanterns float up spectacularly from all the ships. It is truly beautiful and very romantic with the lovely music accompanying it. There are other uses of firework effects in this film, but the lantern scene is mesmerizing.
