Every year, New Year’s Eve is a sight with dazzling fireworks and lively celebrations. It brings everyone together for that special night.  The whole world celebrates with astonishing firework shows and there isn’t a single person who wants to miss out on the fireworks fun.  Let’s take a look around the world to see how the countries bid farewell to 2017 and welcome 2018 in fireworks style.

The UK

Fireworks went out in many areas of the UK but  London and Edinburgh just stood out.  There were 100,000 ticket holder plus more people around London, that watched the London show, where people enjoyed the beautiful fireworks by the banks of ‘River Thames’. The 12 minute show comprised of use of around 10,000  fireworks, where the theme this year, was women’s right to vote.  The london fireworks where played out with a  soundtrack dominated by women to mark the centenary, songs by Aretha Franklin, Annie lennox, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Florance Welch.

In Edinburgh, tens of thousands of people saw in 2018, with the Edinburgh Castle as the backdrop which made it a royal sight for sure. Despite the bad weather, a lot of people attended the  New Years Eve Celebration, it was a successful show. It had live music, DJ’s, street entainment and finished off with spectacular fireworks show.

America

New Year’s Eve in New York was extremely chilly. It was the second coldest New Year’s Eve of New York ever recorded, but that did not stop the people from attending the firework display? Of course not! People layered themselves up and headed to Times Square in -12 degrees Celsius. Mariah Carey performed as well. Despite some technical issues, she managed to entertain the audience successfully and the fireworks show was well worth the wait.

UAE

Dubai always stands out with the elaborate celebrations at Burj Khalifa. This year was no different.  The laser and light show shook everyone. With the use of LED lights around the world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa – Dubai conducted the most unique celebration.  The audience not only got to see the amazing laser and light show, they were also shown Arabic calligraphy, geometric designs and a portrait of UAE’s first president through the LEDs, all of which hold great importance for the people of the UAE.

France

Of course, Paris was the highlight too. The city of love is full of joy throughout the year.  It’s only right to expect something spectacular on New Year’s Eve as well.  The locals, as well as tourists, enjoyed the Paris firework show.  This year’s show took place at Arc de Triomphe.  Where people exchanged bises, which is a French tradition to kiss both cheeks once as a New Year greeting.  The fireworks and a view of the Eifel tower, it was just breathtaking and magical.  It did not disappoint!

Indonesia

Indonesian celebration was pretty unique this year. There wasn’t an extravagant traditional firework show but there was a mass wedding instead.  There were hundreds of couples, that got married in Jakarta on New Year’s Eve.

Germany

Despite a terrorist attack last New Years 2016, Germany did not stay behind in celebrating New Year’s Eve this time. With high security, thousands of people were entertained along the river Main in Frankfurt.  There were certain strict rules but the firework celebrations were all worth it!

Like every year, 2018 was welcomed beautifully. How did you celebrate yours?   There were unique as well as traditional methods of celebration. But whatever the way, the world enjoyed the night to the fullest. Let’s hope that the joy and celebrations of New Year’s Eve continue throughout the year! Happy New Year 2018!
